During the last hundred years scientists have searched for a squid that can weigh up to half a ton. The first video has now been captured to show this giant predator, the colossal squid (Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni) in the wild.

The transparent young squid will become red as it grows, but not much is known about the 7-meter-long species. 100 years ago, when the colossal squid was first described, all scientists had were remains found in the stomach of a sperm whale.
